a much needed vacation

my husband, travis, and i haven't taken a real vacation in years, six to be exact. after being parents for 17 month we decided it was time and we set off for albuquerque nm for the balloon fiesta...alone. no baby, no worries. five days of blissful one-on-one time. don't get me wrong, by tuesday we were both very eager to see payton and knew it was time to come home.

while in new mexico we saw the balloon fiesta, of course, took in taos, santa fe and went up to the top of sandia peak via cable tram. amazing all. i've posted a lot of photos so prepare yourself.

our last day spent in old town albuquerque

san antonio missions

sunday my hubby and i visited the 5 missions in san antonio. i've lived in austin most of my life and this was my first time to take the missions tour. we really enjoyed ourselves despite the gray day. the sun did come out just as we got to the riverwalk though. since it was sunday four of the missions were holding mass, the great thing was that at all of them we found....or i should say they found us....charming elderly hispanic men who were so excited to tell us about the their place of worship. that's my favorite way to learn history. it was a great day ended with a great meal at soluna.
